The Pennsylvania Crime Prevention Officers' Association in partnership with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Education & Outreach Unit will host the:
33RD Annual Crime Prevention Symposium
Advanced & basic crime prevention practitioners' THREE-day courses
When: September 19-21, 2016
Location: Shippensburg University Conference Center/Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, 500 Newburg Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257
Who Should Attend: New and experienced crime prevention officers, community policing officers, newly hired police officers,
current crime prevention, community policing, campus police officers, school resource officers and any officer dealing with public relations.
Course Information: We will be offering two options for training this year, The ADVANCED COURSE and the BASIC COURSE. Please select the program of your choice on the registration form as we will try to accommodate as many attendees as possible in each program.
ADVANCED will include programs such as: Technology Today, Hazing, C.A.R.E.S. Program, Workplace Violence, Underage Drinking/Campus & Local Policing, and much more.
BASIC will include programs such as: Be A Better Presenter, Community Police Academy, Cybersafety, Town Watch, Senior Safety, Community Policing Concepts, etc.
Course participants are provided with broad insights on how crime prevention enhances the quality of life in the community and are taught an array of cost-effective and workable strategies that impact crime on all levels. Instructors are veteran practitioners whose experience and level of expertise make them particularly well suited to serve as members of PCPOA's training team.
The training will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 and concludes on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
Course participants will receive a variety of resource materials to assist them in furthering crime prevention efforts at the local level. A registration fee of $75.00 is charged to help defray some of the costs associated with providing this program. Participants who successfully complete the three-day curriculum are provided with a Certificate of Training issued by PCPOA & the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Each applicant must submit the required registration form to PCPOA at PA Crime Prevention Officers' Association, PCPOA Training Registration, P.O. Box 684, Broomall, PA 19008-0684 at least one-week prior to the training date. Class size is normally limited to 100 students in order to help facilitate effective communications between instructor and students.
The registration fee is $75.00 per person for members of PCPOA and non-members (after September 1, 2016 the registration fee increases to $85.00).
