2018 Statewide Crisis Intervention
Team (CIT) Meeting
When: March 20, 2018
What: The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and
Delinquency (PCCD), in collaboration with the Office of Mental Health and
Substance Abuse Services and Centre County CIT, will hold the annual Statewide Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Meeting at
the Days Inn Penn State, State College on March
20, 2018.
This one-day
session will feature Jennifer Lopez, Deputy Chief Chester County Adult
Probation Parole, and Pretrial Services, and her intriguing session on “How Being Trauma Informed
Improves Criminal Justice System Responses.”
We are also pleased to host, MPO Patty
Poloka, of the Pittsburgh Police Department
and Officer Curtis Boyd of the Port Authority
Police Department for their presentation on how to understand crisis elements
of the LBGTQIA+ community, which may lead to
law enforcement encounters. Additionally, we will welcome Ms. Kate Hooven from Autism Services, Education, Resources
and Training (ASERT). Kate will discuss the need for training for law enforcement and justice system
professionals on how to identify and interact with individuals with autism.
Where: Days Inn Penn State, State College, PA
There is a block
of 50 rooms at a rate of $99.00/night. For overnight accommodations, please indicate
you are with PCCD's event and supply them with the code CGPCIT, when you make your reservation. Deadline for
the discounted room rate is February 19, 2018.
Who Should
Attend: CIT
Coordinators; CIT certified personnel; and CIT program personnel from
established CIT counties and from counties that are establishing new CIT
programs are encouraged to attend.
